Tata Motors showcased the Aeris sedan’s structural strength by placing a Harrier.ev SUV on its roof and by pouring 20 tonnes of rubble onto the car in a video. At the launch venue a steel platform held the Harrier.ev perpendicular to the Aeris iCNG, creating a stark visual contrast between the electric SUV and the compact sedan below. The platform’s framework contacted the Aeris at several roof‑edge points, spreading the load and keeping the cabin shape intact. Close‑up photos show the windscreen and rear glass undamaged after the display. In the video a truck dumped the rubble, after which the Aeris started its engine and drove off, demonstrating continued operability. Tata says the Aeris body uses ultra‑high‑strength steel as part of its Safety Dome architecture, designed to protect occupants in impacts. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, corner‑stability control, ISOFIX mounts and rear parking sensors come standard across all trims. iCNG versions add leak‑detection, thermal‑incident protection and rear‑crash protection. From the Pure+ trim onward the sedan gains electronic stability control, traction control, hill‑hold assist and tyre‑pressure monitoring. The Creative trim adds a 360° camera with 2D and 3D views, while the Accomplished variant includes a dash‑cam recorder and a Blind View Monitor. The Aeris is offered in Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished trims. It is powered by a 1.2‑litre Revotron petrol engine or a twin‑cylinder iCNG unit, each available with manual or AMT gearboxes. Petrol prices run from Rs 5.29 lakh to Rs 8.74 lakh; iCNG variants cost Rs 6.29 lakh to Rs 9.74 lakh. Features such as ventilated front seats, a 10.25‑inch touchscreen, wireless phone connectivity, automatic climate control and wireless charging are optional depending on the trim. Tata positions the Aeris solely for private buyers, keeping it out of the fleet segment, and pits it against the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze in the compact sedan market.
