How motorists can dispute a wrong traffic e-challan online

Motorists receiving an incorrect traffic e-challan can raise a grievance through the official government eChallan portal. Errors often involve a wrong vehicle registration number, a mismatch between the vehicle and the recorded offence, or a duplicate challan.
Filing a Complaint
Before submitting a complaint, check the notice details including the date, time, location, and attached evidence. Open the grievance section on the portal, select the issue, explain the error, and upload supporting documents such as your vehicle registration certificate, photographs, dashcam footage, FASTag records, parking receipts, or service records. Save the acknowledgement or ticket number after submitting.
Status and Helpdesk
You can track your complaint status through the grievance system by entering your ticket number. The eChallan helpdesk is also available via email at helpdesk-echallan@gov.in or by calling 0120-4925505 from 6am to midnight using option 4.
Rejected Complaints
If your grievance is rejected, check the reason and the current status of the challan. If the case moves to the Virtual Courts system, visit the Virtual Courts portal to search for the case and contest eligible matters.
Context
Traffic management systems increasingly rely on automated cameras to issue challans, making digital grievance portals necessary for resolving technical or clerical errors. Motorists should handle notices promptly since filing a grievance does not automatically pause payment deadlines.
