BMW Motorrad’s newest 420 cc sportbike, the F 450 RR, rolls out as the third model on the company’s 420 cc platform. It is a fully faired bike with single‑plane winglets and is assembled by TVS at its Hosur plant in India. The bike is powered by a liquid‑cooled 420 cc twin‑cylinder engine that makes 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, the same unit used in the F 450 GS and F 450 R. The seat sits 790 mm from the ground, with optional accessories to raise it to 810 mm or lower it to 775 mm, and the base model weighs 177 kg kerb weight.

Specs

All four trims share a 6.5‑inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and three riding modes – Rain, Road and Race. The electronics suite adds lean‑sensitive dual‑channel ABS, traction control, wheelie control, dynamic brake control and engine drag torque control. Standard hardware includes a slip‑and‑assist clutch, heated grips, adjustable brake and clutch levers and a Type‑C USB port. Suspension is a KYB 43 mm USD fork and monoshock, with a 310 mm front disc fitted with a Brembo four‑piston monobloc caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a Bybre single‑piston caliper.

Variants

The range comes in Base, Sport, M Sport and M Sport with Innovation Package, offered in three colours. The Base version has a non‑adjustable fork and a monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound. The Sport adds a bi‑directional quickshifter and front suspension that can be set for compression and rebound. The M Sport introduces a fourth mode, Race Pro, letting riders tailor ABS and traction settings. The top‑end Innovation Package adds BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) system.

Launch Outlook

BMW has not set a launch date or price for India. The F 450 GS entered the market about six months after its global debut, so the F 450 R and F 450 RR may appear in the country in the first quarter of 2027, though exact variant availability remains unclear.

Context

The 420 cc platform lets BMW offer a lighter, lower‑cost entry into sport and adventure bikes, while TVS handles local manufacturing, keeping prices competitive for Indian riders.
