Students in classes 9 to 12 will now study a 20-hour introductory module on artificial intelligence and computational thinking. The National Council of Educational Research and Training developed the activity-based program. Experts from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur helped build the course.
Course Goals
The program teaches everyday AI uses and how machines learn from examples. Learners will study how to spot deepfakes and protect personal data. The lessons focus on helping young people evaluate technology responsibly rather than trusting every output blindly.
Learning Methods
The curriculum is built for pupils with no prior background in technology. Schools can run the activities with or without digital devices. This setup lets diverse schools join in easily through practical exercises and group discussions.
Context
Schools across the country are gradually updating their curriculums to keep pace with rapid digital changes. Early exposure to artificial intelligence helps students build basic digital literacy and safety habits. This approach prepares young learners to navigate complex online information safely.
