Anti-Corruption Bureau officials seized ₹2.4 lakh in unaccounted cash from Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Joint Director A. Srinivas during a vehicle check on Raj Bhavan Road.
What Happened
The action followed an anonymous call to the ACB alleging that a senior HMWSSB official had collected money illegally and was carrying it while returning home from his office. Acting on this tip, the ACB City Range-II team kept surveillance on the official and intercepted a Maruti Swift car opposite Metro Residency Apartments at around 7 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2026. Mr. Srinivas was travelling inside the vehicle when authorities searched it and found the cash.
Context
Authorities state that the official failed to give a proper explanation for the money and gave conflicting answers during questioning. The seized cash is now under verification for a corruption angle, and the Income Tax Department will also be informed about the case for further action.
