Classes will start in at least 10 Young India Integrated Residential Schools by the next academic year. Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar shared the plan while speaking on Sunday.

Project Details

Mr. Prabhakar and Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar laid the foundation stone for one such school at Thatipally village in Jagtial rural mandal. The new campus will come up on 25 acres with an estimated cost of ₹200 crore. It will house around 2,500 students once built, and construction work is set to finish in 18 months.

Government Measures

Mr. Prabhakar stated that the government wants to give good education to poor students and help children from SC, ST, BC and minority groups learn together. He pointed out that authorities raised diet charges for Gurukul students by 40% and cosmetic charges by 200%. Bills for these institutions are now cleared on time through a green channel. He also talked about the Telangana Jalasri water conservation plan and urged people to tackle El Nino issues together. Mr. Laxman Kumar added that improving state-run schools and student facilities remains a key goal, noting a recent foundation stone laying for a Kendriya Vidyalaya at Chelgal in Jagtial district. The ministers also launched work to modernise the Dharmapuri bus station for ₹2.57 crore.

Context

Residential school projects in India often aim to bridge educational gaps by providing board, lodging, and academic support under one roof for underprivileged students. State governments frequently use dedicated campus developments to consolidate smaller facilities into larger hubs with modern amenities.
