RSS volunteers staged route marches in Hubballi and Belagavi on Sunday as part of Vijayadasami celebrations. In Hubballi the procession started at Nehru Maidan, wound through the main streets and returned to the same ground. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, MLA Mahesh Tenginakai and several BJP legislators joined the crowd. Men of all ages took part, while young children dressed as freedom fighters such as Shivaji, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Swami Vivekananda walked alongside. Colourful rangolis and floral decorations lined parts of the route, and May showered flower petals over the participants. The march is an annual feature of the RSS's Vijayadasami programme, and spectators cheered from the sidelines. In Belagavi the march began at the Sardar High School Grounds, moved past Kittur Channamma Circle, the old city lanes and Dharma Veer Sambhaji Chowk, before ending back at the school grounds. BJP leaders and other RSS members were present throughout. The streets were similarly embellished with rangoli patterns and flower garlands. Local residents gathered to watch the procession, adding to the festive atmosphere.
