A Kerala research team has been granted an Indian patent for an automated system that prepares and dispenses homeopathic medicines. The invention, called a Digitally Controlled Sliding and Sealing Mechanism for Automated Dispensing, is aimed at cutting manual work and raising accuracy in dispensaries, clinics and pharmacies. The system blends artificial intelligence, chip‑level integration, embedded hardware, optical sensors and smart automation to control the flow of medicine. The patent was filed by a quartet of specialists: M.V. Rajesh, director of the Institute of Human Resources Development; Safad Ismail, assistant professor of cyber security at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science; Harsha Vasudevan Pillai from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool; and Mohammed Iqbal R., managing director of Yes Sky Enterprises. Their collective goal is to create practical, low‑cost tech solutions for health care. Researchers say the device demonstrates how digital tools can be woven into the AYUSH health sector, especially homeopathy. They expect the breakthrough to spark more connected and intelligent health‑care setups and to open doors for further automation in medicine handling.
Context
Integrating digital automation into traditional health practices is part of a broader push in India to modernise AYUSH services. Such moves aim to improve service quality while keeping costs low, aligning with national health‑care improvement plans.
