Nayanthara has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Tamil film Dharman, starring Rajinikanth and produced by Kamal Haasan's production house. The makers announced her addition on Sunday with a poster showing her facing Rajinikanth in a dark, corridor-like setting, accompanied by the caption that the aura is double. This project marks another collaboration between Nayanthara and Rajinikanth, who have previously worked together in five films.

Cast And Crew

The film's expanding cast already includes actors Simran and Raashii Khanna alongside the lead stars. Dharman is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, known for his work on Oh My Kadavule and Dragon. The production is handled by Raaj Kamal Films International, led by Kamal Haasan. Earlier promotional material included a first-look poster featuring Rajinikanth dressed in medical scrubs with a bloody scalpel in an operating theatre, carrying the tagline "The deadly doctor" and the Tamil caption "Dharmame Vellum," which means justice will prevail.

Production Changes

The film went through multiple changes before shooting officially began. Rajinikanth previously revealed that Ashwath Marimuthu is the fourth director originally considered for the project. The team initially planned to work with director Ravikumar, and later finalized Sundar C, who stepped away due to delayed projects. A third option involving director Cibi Chakravarthi was also shelved because the proposed story about a nuclear scientist, nuclear weapons, and settings in Afghanistan and Russia was a sensitive and time-consuming subject, leading the makers to postpone it and lock in the current film with Ashwath Marimuthu.

Context

Major film projects in the Indian film industry often undergo several script and director changes before reaching the active production stage. Collaborations between veteran superstars and established production houses routinely generate high public interest well ahead of release dates.
