Vidyut Jammwal points out strict time rules on international film sets

Actor Vidyut Jammwal says working on international film sets taught him new lessons about strict discipline, punctuality and accountability. Jammwal made his international debut with the project Street Fighter after working on major action films in India. While he notes that Indian cinema already shoots large-scale action pieces with top-tier talent and directors, the main difference abroad lies in the professional culture behind the scenes.

Work Culture

International sets operate with strict time rules where being late is simply not an option. Jammwal explains that even a famous rapper like 50 Cent cannot arrive late, as every single person is valued equally and expected to respect schedules. Every department must strictly handle its own responsibilities without stepping into other roles. For instance, a stylist cannot step in to fix an actor's hair, even out of kindness, because that job belongs entirely to the hair department. This level of precision and legality makes international film production feel very different from his past experiences.

Set Behavior

Jammwal also noticed a strong sense of teamwork and mutual respect among the men on set. He observed that nobody felt insecure or tried to pry into someone else's personal life. Cast members focused happily on their own work and families during script readings, making the environment exciting and unusual compared to what he was used to.

Context

Film production standards vary across the globe due to differences in union rules, working hours, and industry traditions. Actors who transition between regional film industries and global projects often highlight these distinct behind-the-scenes practices. Understanding these cultural differences offers a clearer picture of how modern movies are made on different scales.
