Four more people have been arrested in connection with the leak of the MPSC Drug Inspector recruitment exam question paper, taking the total number of arrests to 11. The arrests were made on September 24 by a special investigation team of the Mumbai Crime Branch. The newly arrested suspects include two candidates, Sajid Sande from Sangli and Vijay Kingar from Buldhana, alongside two alleged middlemen, Sandip Khalate and Bhairavnath Kadam, who were picked up from Navi Mumbai.
Investigation Details
The case stems from an inquiry into the unauthorized sharing of a confidential question paper for money. Police registered the case at the Cuffe Parade police station on August 25 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Maharashtra Competitive Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Investigators state that copies of the paper were taken out from the MPSC confidential section through unauthorized means, compromising the fairness of the test. The examination was originally held on March 22 across six centres in Maharashtra to fill 154 Drug Inspector posts in the Food and Drug Administration.
Earlier Arrests
Prior to these four arrests, seven other individuals had already been taken into custody. This earlier group includes MPSC Under Secretary Abhijit Lende, Assistant Section Officers Vishweshwar Nakate and Gopal Marathe from the confidential section, Kautilya Academy director Pravin Patil, intermediaries Amrut Patil and Lokesh alias Gaurav Patil, and candidate Rutuja Patil.
