Weather Forecast

Light to moderate rain is expected today, September 25, in three districts of Punjab: Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Gurdaspur. At the same time, the monsoon is steadily moving out of Punjab and Chandigarh. The monsoon withdrawal line currently passes through Gurdaspur and Chandigarh. Because of this, rain will reduce in the coming days and the weather will mostly stay dry. A western disturbance will not have much effect on the region. Also, a low-pressure wind system over north-west Uttar Pradesh has now become weak.

Temperature Details

The maximum temperature in the state has gone up slightly by 0.4 degrees, bringing it close to normal levels. The weather across all parts of Punjab is expected to remain dry until October 1. In districts like Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, and Patiala, the maximum temperature may stay between 32 and 34 degrees. In the rest of the state, it is expected to be between 34 and 36 degrees. Some northern and eastern areas might even see temperatures drop to 30 to 32 degrees for a short time. As for night temperatures, Pathankot is expected to see a minimum of 16 to 18 degrees. Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and parts of Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar may see 18 to 20 degrees, while the rest of Punjab can expect 20 to 22 degrees.

Power Demand

With the rise in heat, the demand for electricity has also gone up in Punjab. Today, the total power demand in the state reached 14,120 megawatts. Out of this, Punjab produced 5,004 megawatts of electricity on its own, while 9,118 megawatts of power was taken from outside sources.
