The India Meteorological Department has issued severe weather warnings for Uttarakhand, prompting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to order full administrative preparedness across the state for September 26 and 27, 2026.

Rain Alerts

On Saturday, September 26, five districts face the highest-level red warning: Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar. Five other districts are under an orange warning, while three districts have a yellow warning. The following day, Sunday, September 27, the red warning shifts to four districts: Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Haridwar. Four more districts face an orange warning, and five others are under a yellow warning.

Official Directives

Forecasters predict very heavy to extremely heavy downpours in several zones, raising the threat of landslides, blocked roads, rising river levels, and urban waterlogging. Chief Minister Dhami instructed all departments to monitor vulnerable spots, including riverbanks, slide-prone zones, mountain paths, Char Dham Yatra routes, and key tourist spots. Relief crews, heavy machinery like JCBs, and essential equipment must stay positioned at strategic spots for rapid emergency response. Officials also advised residents and tourists to avoid non-essential travel, stay away from fast-flowing water and waterlogged areas, and keep children away from hazardous water bodies.
