Brooklyn Man Arrested After Pulling Knife on ‘Miami Vice ’85’ Film Set

A 23‑year‑old Brooklyn resident brandished a large knife on the set of the upcoming film “Miami Vice ’85,” prompting his arrest Friday night. The man, identified by the NYPD as Alex Perez, was taken into custody near Washington Cemetery at about 11 p.m. after police said he threatened crew members with the weapon. Police said he faces charges for threatening behavior and illegal possession of a weapon. No one was hurt during the incident. Footage released by TMZ shows Perez being handcuffed while an officer removes a butcher‑style knife from his sweatshirt pocket. The department noted that Perez has five earlier arrests, including alleged gang‑related activity, a firearm assault and a burglary charge. The disruption occurred as production was underway on the Brooklyn location for “Miami Vice ’85,” a reboot of the 1980s TV series. The film, directed by Kosinski, will portray the glamour and corruption of mid‑80s Miami and is based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich. Austin Butler will play James “Sonny” Crockett and Michael B. Jordan will portray Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, with Dan Gilroy credited for the screenplay. First‑look images of the two leads were released earlier this month, and the movie is slated for theatrical release on 6 August 2027.
