The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line premium executive SUV has crossed 4,947 kilometres on its odometer in its latest long-term report, with an ex-showroom price of Rs 47.74 lakh in India.

Interior And Features

The vehicle features a large 15-inch display panel placed at the top of the dashboard, though its brightness and size mean it stays constantly in the driver's field of view. Essential functions have been moved off physical buttons and into the screen menus, requiring the driver to manually turn off the auto emergency braking system through the menus each time the car is started because it defaults to on. The screen displays many icons and shortcuts near the top edge, and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay where navigation and album art appear clear.

Design And Performance

Unlike the smaller Tiguan R-Line, the longer body proportions of this SUV work well, paired with an Oyster Silver Metallic paint finish and 19-inch turbine-design wheels alongside a dramatic lighting welcome sequence. Under the hood, a 2.0 TSI petrol engine delivers a smooth drive, but the heavy build of the SUV and traffic conditions keep fuel economy down to 5.8 kilometres per litre for the month. Maintenance costs and recorded faults currently stand at zero.

Context

Long-term automotive reviews provide real-world insights into fuel efficiency, daily usability, and mechanical reliability over months of regular driving rather than short test drives. Modern vehicles increasingly integrate physical controls into touchscreens to reduce dashboard clutter, which often creates a learning curve for drivers preferring traditional buttons.
