India secured a four-wicket win over New Zealand in a close second T20 match in Christchurch, taking a two-nil lead in the five-match series. Chasing a target of 181 runs, the visitors slipped to seventy for five wickets before Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy turned the match around. However, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner wreaked havoc through the middle order, taking four wickets for 21 runs and dismissing key batters including Abhishek, captain Shreyas, and Axar Patel. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, replacing the injured Ishan, managed only 4 runs. Naman Dhir contributed a useful 31 runs before falling to Santner, leaving India struggling at 112 for 6. A late onslaught by Tilak and Nitish, particularly scoring 35 runs across the 18th and 19th overs, sealed the victory.
