A 28-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel room in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, prompting her family to accuse her husband of murder. The victim, Muskaan Simolia, had married her husband Nilesh on June 29, 2026. She was staying with her parents from October 10 to prepare for her upcoming railway junior engineer examination scheduled for October 28.

Family Allegations

Muskaan's father, Ramji Lal Ahirwar, stated that his daughter discovered after their wedding that Nilesh was already married and that his first wife lived in Indore. He alleged that Nilesh frequently taunted Muskaan over this issue. According to the father, Nilesh arrived on October 23 and took Muskaan away under the pretext of visiting an aunt's house. Instead, the couple checked into Room 212 at Rishabh Hotel in Jhansi, where the family learned of her death the following morning. Ahirwar accused Nilesh of assaulting Muskaan and hitting her head against a wall, though police noted this allegation has not yet been established.

Police Investigation

Jhansi senior police officer Preeti Singh reported that Nilesh claimed Muskaan suddenly fell inside the hotel room on October 24 as they were preparing to check out. Nilesh took her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police checked the hotel and its CCTV footage, which reportedly captured Muskaan falling inside the room. Authorities have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and stated that further action will depend on those findings and the ongoing investigation into the family's murder and fraud allegations.

Context

Such tragic cases often highlight the complexities that arise when domestic disputes escalate unexpectedly. Police investigations in sudden death cases rely heavily on medical reports, CCTV evidence, and statements from all involved parties to determine the exact sequence of events.
