Senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Pakistan will soon travel to Tehran to discuss regional security with Iranian leaders. Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, announced the upcoming four-party meeting on Monday. Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistani Army chief General Asim Munir, and Turkish Intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin will take part in the talks. They will meet with Iran's Security chief Mohsen Rezaei. Mr. Kani stated on state television that the gathering could help build lasting regional security and create a stable area. Officials have not yet announced the exact date for the meeting, though the idea came up during General Asim Munir's visit to Tehran last week.
Context
West Asia has faced widespread conflict since February following surprise attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. Even though an April ceasefire stopped the heaviest bombing, tensions remain high over control of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing fighting involving regional groups like the Houthis.
