Hyundai has launched the 2026 Bayon SUV in India, placing it between the Venue and the Creta in the mid-size SUV segment. The new model comes in 11 variants across seven trims named HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8, and HX10. Pricing ranges from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, with the entry-level HX2 manual priced at Rs 10 lakh and the top-tier HX10 automatic reaching Rs 18 lakh.
Powertrains and Features
A single 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine powers the Bayon, putting out 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic, with the CVT versions offering Sport, Eco, and Normal drive modes alongside a Dash Boost mode and a claimed mileage of 18.6kpl. A CNG variant featuring an underbody-mounted tank is scheduled to arrive in January 2027. Exterior options include ten color choices split into six monotone, two dual-tone, and two matte-finish variants. Interior themes range from a dual-tone black-and-grey layout to an all-black cabin with red inserts for dual-tone models.
Variant Recommendations
Buyers looking for the most balanced mix of price and features can opt for the mid-level HX6 trim, priced between Rs 13.57 lakh and Rs 14.97 lakh. The higher-end HX8 trim, costing from Rs 15.10 lakh to Rs 16.54 lakh, is recommended for most buyers due to added comforts like ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, and rear disc brakes. The entry-level manual variants start at Rs 10 lakh, while the cheapest CVT version costs Rs 13.85 lakh.
Context
Automakers frequently introduce new models between existing best-selling nameplates to capture specific price brackets in competitive markets. The mid-size SUV segment in India is heavily contested by multiple brands offering varied powertrain and feature combinations. Buyers in this category often weigh manual versus automatic transmissions based on daily city driving comfort.
