The Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited has won an award for recording the lowest transmission losses in the Southern Region for the financial year 2025 to 2026. Officials stated that the utility logged losses of 2.20 percent during this period, following figures of 2.19 percent in the previous financial year and 2.30 percent in the year before that. This marks the second year in a row that the organization has secured the honor at the Power Line TransTech India Utility Awards, which were held in New Delhi. G. Sampath Kumar, who serves as the Director of Grid and Transmission Management, accepted the trophy on October 14. Alok Batra, the CEO of Power Line, and S. K. Soonee, the founding CEO of POSOCO, which is now called Grid-India, presented the prize. Meanwhile, Telangana reached a record peak power demand of 20,018 megawatts on October 16. Leaders noted that the corporation has more than doubled its overall network capacity since the state was formed in 2014, while continuing to build new substations, add transmission lines, and work with distribution companies to manage voltage levels.

Context

Power transmission losses happen naturally as electricity travels over long distances from generation plants to homes and businesses, making efficiency a key metric for utility companies. Upgrading grid infrastructure helps reduce these energy wastes and ensures a stable supply during periods of high electricity demand.
