Match Result

Indian squash player Abhay Singh won the silver medal in the men's singles event on Sunday afternoon. He lost the final match in straight games to Malaysia's Eain Yow Ng, who was the top seed and the defending champion. The final score was 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 in favour of the Malaysian player.

Match Details

Eain Yow used a long and tiring style of play to overpower the Indian challenger. In the first game, Abhay trailed early, briefly led 3-2, but fell behind as Eain Yow took control at 5-3 and saved a game point before losing 9-11. The second and third games saw the top seed race ahead after wearing down the Indian player. Abhay tried to fight back in the third game by taking a 4-2 lead, but a few unforced errors let Eain Yow catch up at 4-4. Eain Yow then won six straight points from 6-5 to seal the title and secure a spot at the Los Angeles Olympics.

Historic Finish

Abhay's silver is only India's second-ever medal in men's singles squash, following Saurav Ghosal's achievement at Hangzhou three years ago. A win in the final would have also given Abhay a direct entry into the LA 2028 Olympics. In the women's final held right after, India's Anahat Singh also lost to Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam in straight games.
