Fitness expert Bhavna Harchandrai has busted eleven common myths surrounding the use of protein powder and daily nutrition habits. Addressing popular misconceptions, Harchandrai clarified that the body can digest and absorb more than twenty to thirty grams of protein in a single meal, noting that this figure only represents the amount that maximises muscle protein synthesis in certain situations rather than a strict limit on absorption. On the timing of intake, she explained that the anabolic window after a workout is not as narrow as people often think, meaning there is no urgent need to drink a shake within thirty minutes of exercising. Higher protein intake does not damage kidney function in healthy people, though those with existing kidney conditions must seek medical supervision. She also distinguished protein powder from anabolic steroids, explaining that powders are simply concentrated dietary sources derived from milk or plants like pea, rice, and soy. Regarding specific results, Harchandrai noted that protein powder alone does not make women bulky, as building muscle mass requires consistent resistance training, proper calories, and time. Whey protein does not cause acne in everyone, and a recent twenty-twenty-four study on young men showed whey supplementation did not worsen acne compared to non-whey alternatives. Protein powder also does not cause dehydration in healthy people, weaken healthy bones, or become harmful when combined with creatine monohydrate. While whey is a complete protein rich in the amino acid leucine, well-formulated plant protein blends can also provide a balanced profile.
