Action entertainer Jailer 2 earned ₹6.96 crore net on its second Tuesday, pushing its total domestic collection past the ₹415 crore mark. According to the trade website Sacnilk, the film brought in ₹415.11 crore in India so far.
Box Office Numbers
The latest Tuesday collection marks a nearly 8% change compared to Monday, when the film earned ₹9.45 crore. During the festive Dussehra season, the film pulled in between ₹46 crore and ₹59 crore each day, ending its first week with ₹334.35 crore. It collected ₹14.50 crore last Friday, ₹24.15 crore on the following day, and ₹25.70 crore over the weekend before seeing its first major drop on Monday.
Records and Cast
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran through Sun Pictures, the film released on October 15. It has beaten all Tamil films released this year and surpassed Rajinikanth's own film 2.0 to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. It is also the second-highest-grossing Indian film of the year, standing behind Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The film stars Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik, with new additions like SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan.
Context
Major Indian festival releases often see massive early earnings followed by a gradual slowdown on weekdays after the holiday rush ends. Tamil cinema has a strong history of high-grossing action dramas featuring veteran superstars like Rajinikanth driving massive box office numbers. Films of this scale typically rely on cameo appearances and strong festive openings to build long-term theatrical momentum.
