Mumbai police have denied permission to the organisation 'Cockroach Janata Party' to hold a protest at Shivaji Park on October 2. The group planned to protest against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Reasons And Details

Worker Ajinkya Shinde submitted the protest application on September 26 on behalf of the organisation led by Abhijit Dipke. The Shivaji Park police station stated in a formal notice that court orders and state guidelines do not give the police department the power to allow public meetings on the grounds. The applicant also failed to submit the required permission letter from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Grounds And Traffic

Officers noted that Shivaji Park is a silence zone surrounded by residential areas, raising major concerns about noise pollution. The planned protest could also cause heavy traffic jams and block emergency vehicles from reaching nearby hospitals. Police advised the organiser to look for an alternative location in Mumbai and stated they would consider a new application for another site based on the rules.
