The United Forum of Bank Unions called off the protest, which was set to start on Sunday, September 27, 2026, following discussions with the Indian Banks' Association.
Committee Formation
Both sides agreed to set up a high-level committee immediately to look into making all Saturdays holidays. The IBA and the union held a meeting at 9:30 p.m. to finalize this decision, meaning banks will remain open for normal work on Monday, September 28, 2026. The new panel will study different options, talk to all groups involved, and find a solution that works well for customers and staff alike.
Other Issues
Discussions will also begin with the IBA to suggest changes to the government regarding the Performance Linked Incentive scheme for Scale IV and higher officers, aiming to address union concerns. Furthermore, remaining issues from the meeting minutes dated March 8, 2024, will be talked over soon to reach a quick settlement. Because of these steps, the union decided to put off all planned protests and strike actions.
