Representative image · PexelsUPDATE - follow-up to How Haryana's village health centres are screening heart patients and helping save lives: Haryana's village health centres are expanding heart patient screening through a tele-ECG project launched with startup Sunfox Technologies. Nearly 600 government health facilities now use the Spandan One device connected to tablets and phones. By September 17, these centres conducted 33,854 tests, found 9,287 abnormal ECGs, and detected 1,342 critical cases.
Patient Impact
Patients like 52-year-old ASHA worker Raj Rani in Yamunanagar received quick emergency drugs and referrals for angioplasty after doctors spotted a blocked artery. Similarly, 75-year-old Ram Saran received a rapid report at the Ranjitpur primary health centre. Former Director General Kuldeep Singh reported a 20 percent drop in emergency ward deaths at district hospitals because local clinics now stabilise patients early.
Data Insights
Startup CEO Rajat Jain noted that real-time dashboard data reveals people aged 30 to 49 face high cardiac risks, and critical ECG rates among women in this age bracket match or exceed men. Meanwhile, the nursing union previously opposed nurses running the tests due to vacant technician posts, but the DGHS issued a letter requiring healthcare workers to perform life-saving checks.
