Kevin Bleyer, an Emmy‑winning writer for "The Daily Show", died on Sunday after his car struck a tree on a rural road near his weekend home in Millrift, Pennsylvania. He was 54. Bleyer contributed nine seasons to the satirical news program and later spent eight years writing for the political panel show "Politically Incorrect" with Bill Maher and Dennis Miller. His work earned four Primetime Emmy trophies, a Peabody honor and a Writers Guild award. He also wrote for Disney+ series "The Right Stuff", Fox’s supernatural drama "Sleepy Hollow" and Bravo’s comedy "Significant Others". Born in Bethesda, Maryland, he grew up in Seattle and had made New York City his residence for the last two decades. Family members said the collision happened on the quiet country lane that leads to his country house. He is survived by his wife Nella Vera, his father the late Archie Bleyer, his brother Keith Bleyer, sister‑in‑law Kelly Schulz‑Bleyer, nephew Evan Bleyer and niece Lauren Bleyer.
