Harley-Davidson has been spotted displaying its upcoming Sprint 440 cruiser at a dealership showroom without any camouflage, pointing to a launch in the near future. This model is the third motorcycle born from the joint venture between Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp, sharing its underlying platform with the existing X440 and X440 T variants.

Design Changes

The undisguised motorcycle features a traditional cruiser aesthetic with a rounded, classical fuel tank carrying prominent Harley-Davidson lettering and Sprint branding on the side panel. It comes equipped with a single-piece, scooped-out bucket seat offering space for both rider and pillion, paired with an upswept, pulled-back handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs. The machine was spotted in multiple color finishes including black, blue, grey, and red. At the front, the bike uses a circular headlamp with a bright trim, compact mudguard, and upside-down front forks, while the rear features twin shock absorbers mounted further back on the swingarm to help achieve a longer wheelbase and a lower seat height.

Engine and Hardware

The Sprint 440 is expected to use the same 440cc, single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled engine paired with a six-speed gearbox found on the X440 series. That engine generates 27 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, though specific tuning and sprocket changes for the cruiser remain unconfirmed. The bike also features a new exhaust end can with a metallic heat shield, disc brakes with an ABS sensor at the front, and alloy wheels with machined detailing. Pricing for the current X440 range spans from Rs 2.35 lakh to Rs 2.86 lakh for the T variant, though official pricing for the Sprint 440 has not been announced yet.

Context

Joint ventures between international motorcycle brands and local Indian manufacturers have become a common way to build mid-capacity bikes locally at lower costs. Hero MotoCorp handles production in India for this partnership, allowing Harley-Davidson to reach a much wider audience. The Sprint 440 expands this lineup by targeting riders who prefer a relaxed, low-slung cruiser style over a standard roadster.
