Actor Shah Rukh Khan has shared a brand-new poster for his upcoming action film, King. The actor unveiled the poster on Tuesday. In the new image, Shah Rukh sports a rugged look featuring grey hair while a fire burns in the background. He holds a gun in his hand and a rose rests between his lips. Along with the poster, he shared a famous line from his 1999 action-comedy Baadshah, writing, "Aaj phir yaad aaya...Qaatil nahi… Aashiq hoon…" Director Siddharth Anand is heading the project. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, and Suhana Khan in key roles. A first-look teaser for the movie came out last year on the superstar's birthday to give fans a preview of the action. Plot details and character backgrounds are still under wraps. King brings Shah Rukh back to the big screen after a three-year break since his 2023 film Dunki. During 2023, he also appeared in Jawan and Pathaan. Production duties for King are split between Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment and Siddharth Anand's Marflix Pictures.
Release Details
The film hits theatres on December 24. It faces a direct box office clash with Nagarjuna's Telugu action film King100, which releases on the exact same date. Both Indian movies also face heavy competition from major Hollywood releases Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled to arrive a week earlier on December 18.
Context
Clashing releases during the busy December holiday period are common in the film industry as studios compete for lucrative festive box office windows. Shah Rukh Khan's return to cinema follows a hugely successful 2023 run where he established a strong presence in the action genre with blockbusters like Jawan and Pathaan.
