Delhi residents can now buy alcohol through the new Delhi Liquor Booking app launched by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation ahead of Diwali in October 2026. The platform lets eligible users check available brands, pick bottle sizes, and make payments online before visiting a store.

How It Works

The service currently covers 208 government-run liquor stores across the capital. Buyers must be at least 25 years old to use the app, matching local excise rules. After payment, the app generates a QR code that store staff must scan when the customer arrives to collect the order.

Rules And Limits

Home delivery is not an option under this system, meaning buyers must personally visit their chosen outlet. Customers must pick up their items within 48 hours of making the payment. While orders can be cancelled before collection, items cannot be returned once handed over. The platform also outlines individual purchase limits of up to nine litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer.

Context

State governments often introduce digital token or booking systems for high-footfall retail items to manage crowds during peak festive seasons like Diwali. This specific rollout helps streamline operations at select government-run outlets while keeping purchases aligned with local legal age limits and quantity caps.
