Police have registered a case against a man in Koyilandy after his 16-year-old son died in a scooter accident. The victim, Amal Praveen from Iringath near Koyilandy, did not have a valid driving licence.
The Accident
The crash happened at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday when Amal lost control of the two-wheeler and hit a wall. He was returning home from a gym with two friends at the time. The vehicle was registered in his father Praveen's name.
Aftermath
Amal suffered critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but doctors could not save him. Authorities handed over his body to relatives after completing the post-mortem examination. Police stated that the case was filed against the father for allowing an underage individual to drive a registered vehicle despite repeated public warnings.
Context
Allowing minors to drive motor vehicles remains a serious traffic violation with strict legal consequences for vehicle owners. Police routinely urge parents to prevent underage driving to avoid fatal road accidents.
