A 25-year-old man must spend 20 years in rigorous prison after a court in Hyderabad found him guilty of repeatedly harassing a minor girl. The L.B. Nagar Fast Track Special Court for Rape and PoCSO Cases handed down the sentence on Wednesday.
Case Details
The court ordered the convict, Jarpula Ganesh, to pay a fine of ₹32,000. Judges also ordered that ₹1.50 lakh be paid to the victim as compensation. Ganesh worked as a private employee and lived in Dayyalaguda Thanda located in Maheshwaram mandal. Police stated that Ganesh lived in a live-in relationship with the victim's mother and repeatedly harassed the minor girl during this time. He also threatened to share explicit pictures and videos of the mother and daughter on social media if anyone spoke out about the abuse.
The Incident
Ganesh took the mother and her daughter to a lonely spot in Mamidipally village on October 29, 2024. He tried to assault the minor girl again at that location. The mother raised an alarm and the girl fought back, which forced Ganesh to run away from the spot. The victim filed a complaint that resulted in a formal case at the Pahadishareef police station on November 27, 2024. Police gathered evidence and presented it to the court, which convicted the man.
