Project Details
During their meeting, the industrialist expressed interest in putting money into sectors like power generation and an aluminium smelter plant. The Chief Minister noted that the business leader submitted a concrete plan to build a facility in Asansol. The company stated it already possesses the land needed for this venture and promised the new project could create up to 10,000 jobs.
Government Push
The Vedanta chairperson praised the administration for its friendly approach and stated that government backing would help drive major spending over the coming years. He spoke at an event hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, where he also stressed that India needs to rely on its own mineral wealth instead of buying goods from abroad. Similar business leaders like Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani have also held talks with the Chief Minister recently.
Context
These high-level business meetings align with the ruling party's major election promises to boost factory growth and employment across the State. West Bengal has been actively working to draw fresh corporate spending and improve its industrial sector after years of slower growth.
