All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha leaders want a mass protest campaign to protect farmers and farm workers across the nation. Vemulapalli Venkataramaiah, president of the organisation, spoke at a public gathering in Khammam on Monday to kick off their fourth national conference. A rally preceded the meeting, featuring farmers, farm workers, and tribal residents from agency regions.
Demands And Allegations
Ashish Mittal, the general secretary of the group, claimed that the central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party serves business conglomerates instead of rural workers. The speakers urged the public to build a united front similar to the protests that compelled the central administration to scrap three contentious agricultural statutes four years ago. Cultural performers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and other regions also took part in the march.
Context
Farm unions in India frequently organise national conferences and rallies to rally support for policy changes and minimum support prices. These gatherings serve as platforms to debate the growing influence of private corporations in the agricultural supply chain.
