Rajinikanth's action film Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 755 crore at the worldwide box office, though its daily earnings continue to slow down during its second week in theatres. On Day 14, the film collected Rs 4.22 crore across 7,914 shows with an occupancy rate of 15 percent, according to Indian Express.
Collections and Records
The Tamil version brought in Rs 2.49 crore, while the Telugu version earned Rs 1.04 crore and the Hindi version added Rs 69 lakh. The film holds a total India net collection of Rs 420.42 crore, alongside a total overseas gross of Rs 260.50 crore. In Kerala, Jailer 2 surpassed the lifetime collection of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 with Rs 72.85 crore, becoming the highest-grossing non-Malayalam film in the state. It has also overtaken the global lifetime collection of Rajinikanth's 2018 film 2.0, becoming the first Tamil film to cross the Rs 700 crore mark globally.
Cast and Crew
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the film features music by Anirudh Ravichander and stars Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The supporting cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Namo Narayanan. Nelson Dilipkumar thanked audiences on X for the film's reception.
Context
Sequels to major box office hits often draw large crowds in their opening weeks before ticket sales naturally decline as the initial wave of fans subsides. Major film releases also face box office shifts when competing new titles enter theatres.
