Fifteen-year-old Uma Kashvi has become the youngest player ever to be picked in a Women's Premier League auction after being acquired by the Delhi Capitals at her base price of Rs 10 lakh.
Training Journey
Her uncle, Sai Satya Vijay, left his full-time IT job to supervise her cricket development, starting when she was seven years old. Training included morning runs of 3,000 steps, evening group sessions at a Bellandur academy, and thirty overs of daily sidearm bowling from her uncle. She also maintains high academic standards, scoring ninety percent throughout her studies despite not attending regular school.
Mentorship And Recognition
At age thirteen, Kashvi joined coach Arjun Dev's New Innings Cricket Enterprise, the same academy that shaped Shreyanka Patil. Dev noted her maturity and game understanding, while her uncle drew a parallel to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi being the youngest player picked at an IPL auction. Following the auction selection, she received congratulatory messages from players including Shreyanka Patil and Jemimah Rodrigues, with Rodrigues sending a welcome message.
