LIC and Meesho poised for MSCI India Index entry as OFSS, Siemens Energy face possible drop

LIC and Meesho are likely to be added to the MSCI India Standard Index in the November 2026 review, while Oracle Financial Services Software and Siemens Energy India could be removed, JM Financial said. The brokerage flagged both LIC and Meesho as meeting free‑float market‑cap and size thresholds required for inclusion. MSCI will announce its decision after market close on 11 November, with changes effective from 1 December. JM Financial expects up to three new stocks and two deletions, which could trigger large passive fund movements. Coforge is also flagged as a possible mover from the MSCI India Small‑Cap Index to the Standard Index after its market cap rose and liquidity improved. OFSS and Siemens Energy India face exclusion because their free‑float market capitalisation has fallen and they suffer low liquidity and structural pressures. JM Financial estimates that the inclusions could bring about $1.9 billion of passive inflows, while the exits may cause around $497 million of outflows, leaving a net inflow of roughly $1.4 billion into Indian equities. These figures assume no other changes in country weights or emerging‑market rebalancing. Passive and quasi‑passive funds that track the MSCI index will adjust their portfolios around the effective date. Final inclusion and exclusion decisions will depend on MSCI’s official announcement.
Context
The MSCI India Standard Index is a key benchmark for global funds that invest in large‑cap Indian stocks. Changes to its roster cause funds to buy or sell the affected shares, influencing market flows.
