Andhra Pradesh has faced a preliminary estimated loss of ₹4,600 crore following the impact of Cyclone Arnab. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu shared this figure on Thursday after conducting an aerial survey across the Krishna and Godavari zones.

Relief And Power Repair

Mr. Naidu stated that early safety preparations kept the death toll down to seven people. To fix electricity lines quickly, the State has asked the Telangana government to send one thousand workers. Officials may also ask Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to send two thousand additional workers for electricity repair tasks, mainly in the Godavari area, with supply expected to return by Saturday. At least eight thousand electricity poles fell down in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district alone, and new machines will come from other States to help set up poles fast.

Aid And Crop Compensation

Families moved to relief camps will receive a twenty-five kilogram bag of rice along with cash. The Chief Minister announced that owners will get fifteen hundred rupees for every coconut and oil palm tree destroyed by the storm. Full crop support and payments will be fixed once officials finish counting the total agricultural damage. Mr. Naidu also spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the storm damage, and a Central inspection team will visit the affected districts on Friday.

Context

Severe tropical storms frequently hit India's eastern coastline during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons, bringing heavy rain and destructive winds that knock out power networks and damage farms. Governments normally rely on inter-state worker deployment and central damage assessment teams to speed up recovery after such natural disasters.
