NEET PG 2026 candidates and doctors are demanding greater transparency in the examination process following the declaration of results on September 24, 2026, by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. Several medical aspirants reported large gaps between their expected scores and actual results on the social media platform X, with some candidates claiming differences of nearly 100 marks.
AIMSA Appeal
Many students approached the All India Medical Students' Association to seek its help over the perceived evaluation issues. In response, AIMSA wrote to Union Health Minister JP Nadda asking the government to release the official question paper, answer key, and individual recorded response sheets so students can check their performance independently.
Cut-Off Details
Meanwhile, the qualifying cut-off score dropped to a six-year low across all categories while the qualifying percentiles stayed the same. The new threshold is set at 262 marks for General and EWS candidates, 244 for General PwBD candidates, and 226 for SC, ST, and OBC candidates. Experts note that this drop does not mean an easier path to postgraduate medical study, pointing instead to factors like exam difficulty, changing study patterns, coaching reliance, and seat availability, noting that more than 18,000 postgraduate seats were empty during the previous counselling cycle.
Context
High-stakes competitive entrance tests like NEET PG often see intense student scrutiny over results and scoring patterns. Releasing answer keys and response sheets is a common demand from candidates seeking clarity and fairness in large national examinations.
