Representative image · PexelsSpaceX's Starship has completed an orbital flight and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean after about three hours in the air. The mission was originally planned to last for ten hours, but SpaceX decided to cut it short and announced it would end after 90 minutes. During the flight, the spacecraft successfully deployed 26 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites into orbit. These new satellites join the existing constellation that provides broadband internet service on Earth.
Context
Test flights help aerospace companies test new hardware under real conditions before using them for regular operational missions. These early flights often end sooner than planned when engineers gather all the necessary data or choose to bring the vehicle down safely.
