The Indian Navy and TVS Motor Company have launched a 1,600-kilometre motorcycle expedition named 'Fleet to Forts' across Maharashtra. A group of 25 riders is covering the route on TVS Ronin motorcycles over 14 days.

The Route and Mission

The journey covers ten historic forts linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. The trip started from Kohli Stadium in Mumbai and aims to return to the city by October 12. The ride sets out to explore the state's maritime history and inspire young people to join the armed forces.

The Team and Leadership

Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale, Chief of Staff for the Western Naval Command, and Vimal Sumbly, Head of Business at TVS Motor Company, flagged off the event. Captain Shekhar Deshpande is leading the 25 riders, which includes both men and women made up of Officers, Sailors, and Agniveers. The group is using the ride to spread awareness about career roles in the Navy, especially the Agnipath short-term recruitment scheme.

Support and Vehicles

TVS is supplying the Ronin motorcycles along with riding gear, technical help, logistics, and media support. The Ronin lineup recently added a new Base+ variant priced at Rs 1.42 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi, bringing the total number of variants to four with prices ranging from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 1.63 lakh.

Context

Collaborations between the armed forces and private companies are common ways to boost public outreach and connect with youth in different regions. Historical and cultural themes are frequently used in India to draw attention to modern recruitment drives and national initiatives.
