Both new tablets are set to hit the market on October 7, bringing faster chipsets, new productivity-focused AI features, and higher prices.
Specifications and Pricing
The highest-end Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 14.6-inch AMOLED display and measures 5.1mm in thickness. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, which delivers 61 percent faster NPU processing, 19 percent faster CPU performance, and 17 percent improved GPU performance over the previous generation. The Ultra model starts at $1,400, reflecting a $100 price increase compared to last year.
Features and Extras
Both new tablets offer IP68 water and dust resistance, quad speakers, and a magnetic S Pen. They also support Samsung DeX mode and Quick Share, which now works with AirDrop. Buyers will receive free trials of several apps and services bundled with the devices. Samsung is not offering a standard entry-level variant for this generation, leaving buyers to choose only between the Ultra and Plus models.
Context
This launch comes as major technology companies increasingly focus on premium tablets rather than budget models. Rising component costs and global memory shortages have driven up prices across the consumer electronics industry.
