A computer engineering student at Jamia Millia Islamia has landed a job offer worth 35 lakh rupees a year from the global payments company Visa.

Internship and Offer

Mohd Shamoon, who belongs to the 2027 batch, got the pre-placement offer following a summer internship at the firm. He cleared an online test and an interview round to secure that internship, which paid him a monthly stipend of 90,000 rupees. The university placement cell helped manage the process.

University Background

Jamia's engineering faculty started in 1985, though its civil engineering bachelor's course began earlier in 1978. The computer engineering department itself opened in 2000 and runs an eight-semester course covering subjects like software development, networking, and artificial intelligence.

Context

Pre-placement offers let companies lock in talented interns before they finish college, turning successful summer projects into full-time jobs. Such high-value tech roles are often secured through campus placement cells that bridge students and major corporate recruiters.
