Joint Inspections
Officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Food Safety, and Drug Control departments carried out simultaneous inspections at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences located in Punjagutta on Thursday. These checks followed allegations of corruption and irregularities at the hospital. A team of about ten Anti-Corruption Bureau officials, led by Central Investigation Deputy Superintendent of Police Lakshmi Kanth Reddy, examined records in the administrative section as part of the investigation.
Department Checks
Simultaneously, four food safety inspectors focused their check on the NIMS canteen. Another team of four drug inspectors checked the surgical stores, examining medicines, medical equipment, and storage records. The Anti-Corruption Bureau is expected to release a detailed statement regarding the inspections on Friday.
Context
Government hospitals and medical institutions are periodically checked by anti-corruption and safety departments following complaints or reports of administrative irregularities. Such inspections aim to ensure proper standards in patient care, food hygiene, and medical supply management.
