The Indian rupee gained 7 paise to reach 95.19 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Friday, supported by a softer greenback and declining U.S. treasury yields. The currency opened at 95.21 at the interbank foreign exchange market before touching 95.19, following a previous close of 95.26 on Thursday.

Market Factors

The dollar index fell by 0.27 percent to 101.75, reflecting decreased demand against a basket of six currencies. Brent crude traded lower by 1.05 percent at $116.09 per barrel in futures trade, though climbing crude prices in other reports constrained further gains. Meanwhile, the domestic equity market saw the Sensex rise 138.77 points to 74,289.81, and the Nifty advanced 38.95 points to 22,967.10. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 943.60 crore on a net basis on Thursday.
