IIT Kanpur will set up the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Security Operations Centre to protect digital networks across the state.
Project Details
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the project, which costs Rs 104.28 crore including operation and maintenance expenses. C3iHub, the cybersecurity technology innovation hub at IIT Kanpur, will establish and run the facility. The centre will provide round-the-clock monitoring of government websites, apps, data systems, and digital infrastructure.
Functions
The facility brings threat detection and incident response under one central roof. It covers both Information Technology and Operational Technology environments to spot suspicious activity early. Advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning will help staff assess risks and prioritize threats. The centre will also conduct training programs, security audits, and cyber drills for government employees.
Context
Modern state governments rely heavily on online platforms to deliver public services, making robust digital defense systems necessary. C3iHub brings prior experience in securing critical infrastructure for organizations like the National Highways Authority of India and the Indian Ports Association.
