The Bihar Public Service Commission has withdrawn recruitment notices for 1,711 specialty assistant‑professor posts in state medical colleges and hospitals. The cancellation applies to advertisements numbered 04/2025 through 28/2025, which were meant for regular appointments in a range of specialties. The Health Department said the ads were pulled after it withdrew its earlier petitions, and that fresh notices are being prepared, though no release date was given. Candidates who applied under the old ads must now wait for new announcements that will spell out the revised vacancy count, eligibility criteria, application dates and selection steps. The original ads, released in April 2025, listed openings in Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Radiology and Microbiology. Applicants were first told to submit by May 7, 2025, but the deadline was later extended to June 30 for some departments because of low response. By July 2025 the process had reached the document‑verification stage, so the cancellation affects those who had already submitted papers. The new advertisements may alter the number of posts or the required qualifications, but the latest notice did not clarify these points.
Context
Recruitment drives for medical faculty in Bihar are managed by the BPSC and require departmental petitions; a withdrawal of such petitions typically leads to a pause and re‑issuance of the job ads.
