Mirzapur: The Movie is now streaming on Prime Video following its theatrical run, bringing an extended cut with unseen footage to home viewers. Released on October 30, the streaming version runs for 3 hours and 31 minutes, compared to the 3-hour and 17-minute theatrical version that was rated A in cinemas.

What Happened

Set after Season 1, the film moves the fight for the throne beyond Purvanchal and into the desert. Director Gurmmeet Singh stated that the project aimed to explore familiar characters on a larger canvas while keeping its gritty tone. Producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar noted that bringing the streaming franchise to the big screen was a new experience, and they hope the OTT release expands its audience. Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director of Universal Music India, shared on Instagram that the extended cut is the version the makers watched before the official release, calling the film an absolute box office smash that collected 339.84 crore rupees worldwide in September 2026.

Cast and Crew

Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment presented the film, which was written by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh under the Excel production banner. The extensive cast includes Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Sonal Chauhan, Anangsha Biswas, Shaji Chaudhary, Satendra Soni, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Sushant Singh.

Context

Streaming series adapted for theatrical release often return to digital platforms with additional runtime or director's cuts to drive engagement among fans who previously watched them at home. This strategy allows studios to monetize popular franchises across both theatrical box office and digital subscription models simultaneously.
