New OTT Releases

Actor Sree Vishnu's recent comedy film 'Comrade Kalyan' and the feature film adaptation 'Mirzapur: The Movie' have both made a surprise entry onto the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform.

Comrade Kalyan Details

'Comrade Kalyan' is directed by Janakiram Marrella and features Mahima Nambiar and Radikaa Sarathkumar in key roles alongside Sree Vishnu. Set against a 1990s Andhra-Odisha border backdrop, the plot follows Tadikonda Kalyan, a man with modest education who runs a leased cinema hall in his village. IPS officer George Kutty, played by Shine Tom Chaco, arrives in the local forests to root out Naxalite squads led by Master, played by Sai Chand. Kalyan falls in love at first sight with Sitara Devi, an Odia girl played by Mahima Nambiar, after she helps save her mother Saraswatamma, played by Radikaa Sarathkumar. Unplanned events transform Kalyan from a theatre operator into a Naxalite and a most-wanted figure for the police. Sakshi reports that the film released in theatres on the second of last month and is now available to stream in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Mirzapur Movie Details

Mirzapur: The Movie adapts the popular web series franchise and arrived in theatres in the first week of September. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film features Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, and Ravi Kishan. Pankaj Tripathi stars as Akhandanand Tripathi, also known as Kaleen Bhaiya, who rules Mirzapur and influences Uttar Pradesh politics. Ali Fazal as Guddu and Jitendra Kumar as Bablu assist him, while Divyenndu plays his impulsive son Munna. Ravi Kishan appears as Baban Yadav, a figure who approaches Tripathi with a deal and a condition to claim the throne of Mirzapur. According to Sakshi, the OTT version on Amazon Prime includes added scenes with a total run time of three and a half hours, currently available in Hindi with the Telugu dubbed version arriving later.

Context

Streaming platforms frequently acquire titles for digital release shortly after their theatrical runs conclude to reach broader audiences across multiple languages. Direct-to-OTT drops without prior promotional campaigns have become a common strategy for both regional and pan-Indian projects to capture weekend viewership.
