The state education department has issued a six-point set of instructions to improve the functioning of Saraswati Vidya Niketan Model Schools. Officials must give this matter top priority and ensure strict compliance across all these institutions.
Key Directions
The department has asked officials to strictly enforce the 75 percent attendance requirement for students. It also directed that police personnel should not be accommodated in these schools as far as possible. District Education Officers may recommend alternative venues if avoiding these institutions as examination centres becomes completely unavoidable.
Staff And Academics
To tackle staff shortages, officials must arrange for clerks or attendants from nearby schools to work in Model Schools where positions are vacant. Schools must also conduct morning assemblies, known as Chetna Satra, properly with the right use of musical instruments. District authorities will nominate an official to regularly monitor these arrangements. Additionally, schools must hold special classes to provide extra academic support for students who fail Class 9.
Context
State education departments regularly issue administrative guidelines to address infrastructural and academic gaps in government and model schools. These rules aim to protect learning environments from outside disruptions like police housing and exams while helping weaker students catch up academically.
